day seven: center - one step at a time

During this time, many of us have sought refuge through the simple act of going for a walk. Whether we’re craving a change of scenery, some fresh air, or just want to stretch our legs--putting one foot in front of the other can feel oh so good.

No matter if we’re taking a stroll around the block, venturing (safely) on a local trail, or making a lap around the house, moving leaves us feeling refreshed and lifted.

Today we invite you to take it a step further (pun intended) and try centering as you walk.

Take a deep breath, slow your pace, and ask yourself…

  • What do I hear?

  • How does it feel to lift my legs? To feel my feet touch the ground? To breathe?

  • How does the air around me feel? What is the temperature? Do I feel a breeze? The warmth of the sun? Raindrops?

  • What bird songs do I hear? What about spring flowers?

  • Do I feel any tension? If so, where?

Walking is a dynamic form of meditation. Sometimes it feels easier to calm the mind when we move our legs. Curious? Why not give walking meditation a try next time you head out?

When you get back home, check-in. How do you feel? We’re curious! Snap a pic and let us know using @valomaine.

If you come along and post a photo and tag @valomaine on Instagram or Facebook, we'll enter you in a raffle to win a prize--like a gift card from our friends at Rosemont Market & Bakery or a year-long subscription from the good folks at Taproot Magazine.
