who we serve.
Valo serves a broad cross-section of young people, ages 15-24. They come to us at various stages in their development and growth, in moments of calm and challenge, curious to better understand themselves and the experience of those around them.
Adolescence, by nature, is not an emotionally steady time. A confluence of factors in our world have made it feel especially precarious recently. The U.S. Surgeon General has declared adolescent mental health the defining public health crisis of our time.
While young people have always struggled, we are aware of the shifting emotional needs of the teens in our world today. Valo is here to help them navigate and normalize challenging experiences, and develop lifelong tools, to make meaningful connections and tend to their emotional wellbeing.
At Valo, we honor all young people, while remaining clear about which teens we are able to serve and which we are not. We are not a clinical program set up to meet the needs of young people in crisis or with acute mental health issues. We always work to prioritize the needs of our retreat groups as a whole. When accepting young people into our program, we want them to be emotionally ready to participate fully.
Please visit our resource page if you or your child are in need of mental health or crisis services.
