Last winter, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a new advisory to highlight the urgent need to address the nation’s youth mental health crisis. Although the pandemic brought to light the challenges teens face surrounding mental wellness, the years leading up to 2020 helped to set the stage for the flood of young people seeking support today.
