valo at home day sixteen: center - move it

As we find our way in this “new normal” it can be a good excuse to examine the practices and habits that structure our days.

In addition to benefiting our physical health, building time for movement into everyday life leaves us feeling refreshed and centered.

No matter if it’s a stroll around the block, a kick-boxing session in the basement, a yoga class before work, or lifting weights in the back yardgetting exercise can have benefits far beyond the time we spend moving.

Today we invite you to get your heart beating along with us. Spend 20 (or even just 10!) minutes exercising in whatever way feels good to you. Ready, Set, Move!

A few ideas...

  • Yoga With Adriene is a YouTube channel with hundreds of free yoga classes. Take a look and find one that catches your eye!

  • SworkIt is a free app that offers a variety of workouts, focused on everything from stretching, to cardio, to strength training—all designed to be done at home.

  • AllTrails is a great resource for finding hiking trails and walking paths nearby. It’s also an easy way to check trail conditions and download a map before your head out.

  • Lululemon has a YouTube channel with plenty of free workouts—from weight-lifting to endurance training, to apartment-friendly cardio.

After you’ve finished moving, check-in with yourself. How do you feel? (Hopefully better—and maybe even energized!). Snap a pic and let us know @valomaine. We’d love to hear from you!

If you come along and post a photo and tag @valomaine on Instagram or Facebook, we'll enter you in a raffle to win a prize--like a gift card from our friends at Rosemont Market & Bakery or a year-long subscription from the good folks at Taproot Magazine. Ready to dive in? Each evening of valo at home, we'll be sharing an email with the next day's spark of valo inspiration. Simply click here to share your email, and we'll make sure you're looped in! You can also forward this post to a friend and invite them to come along. The more the merrier.
