valo at home day fourteen: connect - memory

There’s no doubt that we’re living in an extraordinary time. As we have now shifted to our “new normal”we're curious how you think you might remember these last few weeks.

Today, we invite you to sit down and do your best to record your thoughts about this unusual period.

Set the scene. Maybe you curl up in a quiet space—or blast your favorite tunes and brew a cup of coffee. Grab a pen and paper (or open a blank word doc), reflect on your feelings, and jot down what's stirring. Perhaps also share glimpses of experiences that resonate. You can draft a letter to your future self, or a close friend or family member to mark this moment in time.

Writer’s block? Maybe ask yourself...

  • What has this period taught you? Is there anything that you’ve learned that you may want to carry with you into the future?

  • What has been the most challenging aspect of living life in the time of COVID-19?

  • What silver linings have you found in this time?

  • Do you fear anything? What makes you the most hopeful?

After you’ve finished writing, seal your note. Maybe you can even make a date on the calendar to open it a year from now (or five?!). Give it to a friend for keeping (or stash it somewhere safe).

If you can, grab a photo and share it with us using #valomaine. We’d love to see what you wrote...or even just the sealed envelope!

If you come along and post a photo and tag @valomaine on Instagram or Facebook, we'll enter you in a raffle to win a prize--like a gift card from our friends at Rosemont Market & Bakery or a year-long subscription from the good folks at Taproot Magazine.
